Robert D. Putnam is one of the most influential political and social scientists in the world. His scientific publications (books and articles) are required readings for international scholars and students. He has also advised US presidents and European prime ministers. He is credited as having introduced the concept of ‘social capital’ in political analysis. The lecture will be based on his and Shaylyn Romney Garrett’s recent book, The Upswing: How America Came Together a Century Ago and How We Can Do It Again, Simon & Schuster, 2020
