ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
  • Paola Severino

    Paola Severino is currently Vice-President of Luiss Guido Carli and served as the University’s Rector between 2016 and 2018. She is a Luiss Professor of Criminal Law, President of the Scientific Council of the Luiss School of Law, and a member of the Strategic Group of the Luiss School of European Political Economy.

    Since 24 September 2021, she is President of the Scuola Nazionale dell’Amministrazione (National School of Administration). Since July 2021, she is Co-President of the Scientific Committee and National Citizens’ Representative for Italy at the Conference on the Future of Europe.

    Since May 2021, Paola Severino is President of the Scientific Committee (Supervisory Board) of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan at the Italian Ministry of Education, University, and Research.

    From January 2018 to December 2020, she is OSCE Special Representative on Fighting Corruption and was nominated members of the Italian-French Committee for the drafting of the “Trattato del Quirinale” (Quirinale Treaty). In March 2019, Emmanuel Macron, the President of the French Republic, conferred upon Paola Severino the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honor). In 2015, she was awarded the title of Cavaliere di Gran Croce (Knight of the Grand Cross) by the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Paola Severino served as Minister of Justice in the cabinet led by Monti.

    She is a lawyer since 1975 and carries out consultancy in the areas of business criminal law.

    Paolo Spagnoletti is Associate Professor of Business Organization at Luiss University and Director of the second level University Master in Cybersecurity and the Executive Program in IT Governance (EMIT)). He is a member of the Coordination and Management Committee of the Cyber 4.0 National Competence Center. He collaborates on teaching and research activities with the University of Agder and Paris Dauphine PSL University. He holds a degree in electronic engineering from Sapienza University and a PhD in “Business Information Systems” from Luiss.

    Marc Dacier is Full Professor of Computer Science and member of the Resilience Computing and Cybersecurity Research Center at King Abdullah University of Sciences and Technology, Saudi Arabia. Previously, he was a lecturer at Eurecom in France and manager of the Global Security Analysis Lab at IBM Research in Zurich. He received his PhD from the Institut National Polytechnique in Toulouse.

    Roberto Di Pietro is Full Professor of Cyber Security at HBKU College of Science and Engineering, Doha-Qatar. Previously, he was Global Lead for Security Research at Nokia Bell Labs and lecturer at various universities, including the University of Padua, Roma Tre University and Carlos III University, Madrid. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Sapienza in 2004.

    Ernesto Damiani is Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Milan, Italy. At Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, he is Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems Institute and the Research Center on Cyber-Physical Systems. Leader of the Big Data area at the Etisalat British Telecom Innovation Center and President of the National Interuniversity Consortium for Information Technology, he is a member of the ENISA working group on Artificial Intelligence Cybersecurity.

    Giuseppe Italiano is Full Professor of Computer Science at Luiss University and Director of the second level University Master in “Cybersecurity – public policies, regulations and management”. In 1991 he received a Ph.D. in computer science from Columbia University and worked at IBM’s TJ Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA, from 1991 to 1996. He conducts research in the ​​field of algorithms and is the author or co-author of over 250 scientific publications in prestigious international IT journals and conferences.

    Nadia Saad Noori  is Associate Professor at the University of Agder in Norway and coordinates the research group on Cybersecurity at the Center for Integrated Emergency Management at the same university. He has over 20 years of research experience in industry and academia. He holds a BA in Electronic Engineering from Baghdad University and a PhD in Electronic and Information Systems Engineering from LaSalle Ramon Llull University in Barcelona.
